colour spotlight series: champagne wedding inspiration
Hello! I am a calligrapher and wedding stationery designer from London. Welcome to my wedding colour spotlight series, where I take one colour and show you three ways to style it for your wedding. I will create three wedding colour palettes, a moodboard of inspiration for each one, and then I create a series of bespoke wedding stationery to compliment the moodboard. This time, the spotlight is on champagne - and the three wedding colour palettes are champagne neutrals, champagne and deep green, and finally, champagne and terracotta.
colour palette one: neutral tones
Let’s start with a simple neutral colour palette in lots of shades like champagne, sand, honey. Perfect for minimal weddings, giving a soft and romantic feel.
Opt for simple and elegant multicoloured bridesmaid dresses like these from mumu, and a modern tablescape of bud vases and subtle gold accents.
For the first palette, I designed this champagne wedding invitation suite using a floral line drawing on the envelope liner with a matching invite and custom hand drawn map card. I carried the colours and fonts through into the on the day stationery designs (like this custom favour tag for homemade sloe gin - actually one of my most popular requests!) and a matching menu and placecard.

colour palette two: champagne and green
Earthy greens paired beautifully with a champagne colour palette - perfect for elegant weddings in the garden, or if you have an indoor venue but want to bring the outdoors in.
I loved the idea of alfresco dining at long tables flowing with greenery and florals. Perfect for wedding venues with lots of outdoor space and natural materials, like barns and stately homes.
These on the day designs use a combination of handwritten calligraphy and modern fonts, and a pencil sketch of botanical leaves. These elements are repeated throughout all the designs, including a minimal table plan, gold framed table names, and order of service cards.
colour palette three: champagne and terracotta
With lovely warm undertones, champagne is a great neutral base colour to style with rich, earthy colours like terracotta, rust, mustard, and burgundy.
This wedding colour palette lends itself really well to boho weddings and natural, organic textures such as linen and silk ribbon. I loved this hunt and gather floral bouquet combining soft neutrals with rustic dried flowers and terracotta blooms.
I chose to design some on the day stationery items for this warm and boho colour palette - including these ‘in lieu of favours’ cards which let guests know that you have donated to a charity in their honour instead of traditional favours. I also designed an illustrated cocktail menu with miniature line drawings and co-ordinating modern terracotta placenames.
