Whimsical, quirky, hand drawn: The scribble invitation style, perfect for romantic and fun weddings
As 2023 wedding invitation season fast approaches, I am getting a trickle of requests for invitations with a hand drawn, hand written feel. I’m seeing moodboards full of Andy Warhol’s recipe cards, scalloped edges and wiggly lines, eclectic colour palettes and maximalist illustrations. I am loving this style, and enjoying how it is pushing me as an artist and a bespoke stationery designer. Pushing me to create something that is intentionally imperfect - sometimes scribbly, a little quirky, often colourful, vintage-inspired, and full of tiny romantic hand drawn details that are completely bespoke to each couple.

Champagne towers
So much love for these vintage coupe glasses! I also love how they give you a fun and unusual photo op. Inspired by the champagne tower trend, I have created a bespoke design with scribbly champagne glasses piled high and paired with hand written lettering.
Scalloped edges
From plates to dresses - the scallop trend is here to stay and I love the whimsical, delicate and romantic feel they create. Scallop borders work really well on wedding invitations and can easily follow through to your on the day details. (How fab are these plates from Karin Hossack Pottery - the inspiration for this bespoke scallop edged invitation with the same pale blue, blush pink, and teal colour palette!).
Bright florals
Welcome to the party - I’m seeing a slow trickle of a transition from dusty muted colours to brighter palettes and eclectic, clashing combinations. Used throughout your decor, flowers and even the cake, it’s a great way to start the celebration off visually. Here we have bright yellows, hot pinks, lilacs and oranges all working together to create a romantic and luxurious colourful style.
Coral colour palette
Obsessed with this coral floral wedding arch and gorgeous little floral cocktails. The invitations feature a coral wavy border to frame the hand written lettering in the centre of the invite. It’s an unusual and creative colour palette that works really well with pale pinks, dusty blues, sage greens, and other pastel shades together.
Darling details
From stationery, veils and dresses to candles, ribbons and napkins, I’m seeing a big surge in clever whimsical, hand-painted wedding details. These are perfect for couples who want to incorporate personalised and artistic elements into their wedding, creating a bespoke hand-painted feel that your guests will love.
Tuscany inspired
I’ll never tire of italian inspired weddings, the architecture, the food, the rustic wooden tables adorned with olive branches and simple place settings. Invitations feature an illustration of the stunning italian wedding venue, with a simple olive green hand drawn border and romantic, looping hand written calligraphy to match.
